Decora Japanese Style

Japanese cult fashion has always been cutting edge. Though it often borders to a point of weirdness and confusion, more and more people are aware and amazed of the Japanese people’s passion for fashion.

Decora is one of Japan’s cult style. A shortened version of the words “decoration” or “to decorate”, decora fashion is so cute and childlike in a somewhat sharp manner that it’s like biting on deadly sweet doughnuts. The aim of decora fashion is to create a look of childlike cuteness and playfulness by means of anything pink, layering clothes, wearing numerous hair accessories and accessorizing with ultra bright colored things.

Imagine donning on a Hello Kitty shirt with Pokemon fuzzy shoes while wearing pink striped knee socks over bright pink tights with your hair in a ponytail with pink ribbons and neon colored hair clips. It would also be totally convincing if you carry a virtual pet like a Tamagochi or Nintendog. Magnify that look about a hundred times in pink and you are showcasing a decora type of look.

To effectively pull of a decora look, you must have full confidence. Some people might point, stare or even laugh at you. But if you are really passionate, you certainly won’t mind all of these and just gamely pose when someone asks for your picture.

Japanese Kimono with a twist!

Posted by agent99 on May 25th, 2010 under Japanese Kimonos  •  Comments Off

A kimono is a traditional garment worn by the people of Japan. This garment is T-shaped with collars and wide, long sleeves. A kimono is wrapped around one’s body and tied with a sash called obi. There are numerous types of kimonos, most of them are elaborate and very luxurious.

Nowadays, women sporadically wear the traditional kimonos. They are mostly seen wearing them only special occasions like weddings and other formal functions. But because of the influence of the western world, the traditional kimonos are given a very beautiful, modern twist. Here are some of my favorites:

Aren’t they super pretty? Even if I am not Japanese, I would definitely wear them!
